Finally...

So, I finally got my gmail account. No thanks to blogger =P

Anyway, I'm now reachable at skafka at you know. Going to point my alumni account to forward there for a bit to get a better feel for it than just looking at a communal site. It seems like everyone has invites recently, perhaps they are expanding the beta again.

Now the dilemma, do I have to keep this blog going?

P.S blogger suggest gmail=small in spell check and doesn't know blog or blogger either. hehehe

blogging as an addiction

Interesting article in the NYTimes on people addicted to blogging.

It mentions SIMS briefly (a student commenting on blogging, not as an example of addicts ;) ), I always like seeing the alma matter in print. Some day, people might actually recognize my degree...

For the fans...

Ok, Aditya. You wanted a new post, here it is. I have been pretty busy the last week and since blogging isn't in my blood (yet?), this has fallen by the wayside.

However, I just got back from a weekend in Colorado, where I got to relax, away from the computers for a few days. Went there for a wedding, it's the first time I've been there (excluding connecting flights). Amazing state. I spend a night in Denver with an old college roommate. Then it was off to Ft. Collins which is about an hour north. Such amazing scenery. I made it Rocky Mountain National Park for a very very short hike. Saw many many Elk (it took me awhile to remember what they were, I haven't seen any since I was little) and even a coyote. Very cool.

I've always thought about getting to the Rockies for a trip, but now I have to go. It looks like an amazing place to spend a week backpacking. That's on the calendar for next summer. Stunning views.

Back to work and deadlines tomorrow...

Weekend with the Folks

My parents were in town for the weekend. My sister finished her PhD (well, actually not till Friday I think) in education at Berkeley, and so it was a big family weekend. The ceremony was ok, speeches were nice, but they hooded every single Masters student and teaching credential student. There most have been 100. There were 50+ PhDs, but luckily only about 35 were actually there. I much preferred my graduation from SIMS. Of course, maybe the fact that I was graduating had something to do with it. But it was more intimate and half as long. And we put our hoods on ourselves. I guess it must be considered a technical skill...

Sunday my parents wanted to bike over the GG bridge to Tiburon. Ever since we took my brother I guess they've wanted to do it. There was some walking up of hills and many breaks, but they made it. Had a nice lunch and a ferry ride back to SF.

So now I'm trying to recover from a lot of running around, but it's not to be as I'm off to Redmond for the day tomorrow and then Denver on Friday.

Better busy than bored though.

Mozilla

Apparently Blogger doesn't quite give the same feedback when publishing a post on Mozilla as IE. In fact, it doesn't give any. Hence, I posted the same thing 3 time. At least since no one is reading this, I could delete it without public embarrassment.

Food

Before dinner, I took the folks to the Los Altos farmers market. They got a big kick out of all the fresh (and cheap) fruits and veggies there. Strawberries are a little cheaper here than in Minnesota...

Afterwards we went to STOA, a very nice upscale vegetarian restaurant in Palo Alto. It was a nice find, I'd definitely go back.

Still no luck on the email account. Oh well.

day three

Still no nibble. I suppose it's pretty easy for them to tell I'm not much of a blogger. But I'm going to hack away at this till something happens (like beta ending).

Folks are in town tonight. Perhaps I'll have stories to tell tomorrow.

The saga continues

Ok, day two in my attempt to get a gmail account. I guess just logging in a bunch won't cut it, so I'm resigned to the fact that I just may have to post a few things.

Sigh.
